In the Australian government there is a Prime Minster (Julia Gillard), Primer for QLD (Anna Bligh). Some of the last Prime Ministers of Australia are Edmund Barton, Alfred Deakin, John Watson, George Reid, Andrew Fisher, Joseph Cook, William Hughes, Stanley Bruce, James Scullin, Joe Lyons, Earle Page and Robert Menzies.

There are three different types of government: Local government, State government and Commonwealth government.

Local government: Local government is the government in your area of the country.local government deals with the buildings in the area and the problems. 


State government: The State government is the governments which is the head of the state, In Queensland Australia the person in charge is Anna Bligh. 


Commonwealth Government: The Commonwealth Government is the government which is in charge of the whole Australia.They deal with things all over Australia, the person in charge is called the Prime Minster and that person at the moment is Julia Gillard, the rule of the Prime Minster is to be the chief adviser of the Governor- General. The Prime Minster travels to other countries for business for example to see if Australia can host the FIFA (soccer) world cup or the Commonwealth Games or the Olympic Games.
